12-year-old cat never sat on his owner’s lap until his girlfriend moved in and immediately claimed her lap, leaving the owner in disbelief: 'I was so happy they have their own special relationship'

If your cat approves of your partner, they will make sure that you know about it right away. 

And that's important. It's actually necessary. Because if your cat doesn't approve of your partner, that is something that you should listen to. Cats know good people, and if they don't like someone, it usually happens for a reason. The way that people interact with cats is a huge sign. There are people who are are jealous of their partner's love for their cat. There are people who humiliate their partners for missing their cats when they run away. And then there are people who, behind their partner's backs, do everything that they can to bond with their partner's cats. And the cat then shows its appreciation and approval. 

It can go in either direction, but if a cat approves, you will know it. And the cat in today's story made sure that his owner knew that he approved of the girlfriend very, very quickly. For 12 whole years, this cat refused to sit in his owner's lap. Despite their bond, despite the fact that his owner wanted it very much. But the second his owner's girlfriend moved into their home, the kitty - just like that - decided that his new favorite spot for cuddles was her lap. And the owner's response… adorable.

  • We really fell for this at first. For half a second, we legitimately thought that you were mad or jealous that your cat had chosen your girlfriend so quickly. And then, we read on, and we melted. It's not that the cat doesn't show him affection at all, friends, it's that the cat is showing the two of them affection in different ways. He has a special way for each of them. And the boyfriend in this story… man, is he smitten… with the cat and with the girl. This is one wholesome post. And honestly, we wish we could see so much more of this on the internet.

    MRevelle0424 I can relate. I saved a cat. Took care of him. Cuddled and rocked him to be every night. Played with him and brushed him. Bought him the most delectable treats and food. So how does he show his love for me? He grew into a huge mini panther a$$hole and screams whenever I tried to pick him up. He now cuddles with and lays on my husband's lap out in the man cave. I've renamed it the a$$hole cave. Your kitty looks like they absolutely love your gf!! It's really very sweet!

    witchlys OP OMG, I hope at least he shows appreciation in other ways xD I've luckily never had to be jealous because he cuddles only with me to go to sleep and if I fall asleep before he can, he sits right on top of my head. We are all just serfs in the end

    witchlys OP Haha, we actually call him the archduke because of how he lords over everyone in the house. There's been multiple instances of him being offered food, refusing, and then butting our 3 y/o cat out of the way when she is offered the same food. He is a very greedy creature. When he dies he will probably go to hell. But right now he is in heaven with us. I love him so much

    witchlys OP More than anything. He is the best, most annoying creature in the world. Every night, he is my little spoon. My GF has tried to spoon with him but she cant do the pre-cuddle ritual of lifting the covers to the archduke's preference, so he only does it with me.

    witchlys OP Actually, that may be it, too. We have another cat who I didn't see the first year I had her. Most flighty thing in the world, would flinch when being pet despite also leaning into it. But since GF moved in, she slowly started sitting near the couch, then on the couch rest, and now, she is sitting in our laps too. It's amazing. GF has golden aura, clearly. Everything is better with her here.

Love is real, everyone, and it is possible to find it, even in this day and age. The two of them are building a little family already. Partners, cats, and good vibes all around. Please tell us more about the shenanigans in this house once your girlfriend settles. We needed to see this. This has restored so much of our hope for the future.
